Although I can't reproduce this problem on my setups (i386 and sparc), I
notice a similar problem when using the delete key. Backspace works as
expected, but delete removes the whole object. This seems to be intended
by the upstream author.

An interesting question would be what the <delete> key does on your
system. Does it remove the object? Or a character?

I'm not sure if this problem is related to different hardware/keymapping
setups. Can you reproduce this problem consistently on other systems?
(Possibly i386?) How?

Thanks.

bye,
  Roland
