GTK2 is segfaulting all the time for some reason. Here's a test
program:

$cat test.c

#include <gtk/gtk.h>

int main()
{
  gtk_init(0, 0);
  gtk_window_new(0);
  gtk_main();
  return 0;
}

$ gcc -g `pkg-config gtk+-2.0 --cflags --libs` g.c
$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/ gdb ./a.out
[...]
(gdb) run
Starting program: /tmp/a.out
