Bug#350981: gnome-terminal: font substitution seems broken: missing characters appear as squares

Hi Thomer!

Just to make sure that's the font you're using, please run
the following and see if you get the same output:

$ fc-match monospace
Bitstream-Vera-Sans-Mono.ttf: "Bitstream Vera Sans Mono" "Roman"

Could you provide some sample text that I can use to reproduce the
problem? I've tried using card suits, but they appear in my gucharmap
from the DejaVu Sans font (ttf-dejavu package), and pressing
Ctrl+Shift+2660 in my gnome-terminal produces a "♠", U+2660 BLACK SPADE
SUIT as you'd expect.
