Bug#407033: gnome-menus: After upgrade to Etch: Applications menu is empty and never gets populated

I cannot help on this, and my problem Gnome menus, and KDE menus are
working well

Sorry, I removed all the .config directory.

But I am attaching the two files debian-menu.menu and
gnome-applications.menu from another user.

Basically, logging in as completely new user does not show Gnome
applications' menu items, the same for old users.
