I have reproduced this bug on Debian V5.0.5 amd64 and on Debian V5.9.6 
i386 using UltraVNC on Windows 2008 as the client and vnc4server as the 
server launched by inetd from the openbsd-inetd package.
Relevant /etc/services entry:
vnclo    5920/tcp    # vnc server 1024x768

Relevant /etc/inetd.conf entry:
vnclo stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/bin/Xvnc4 Xvnc4 -inetd -query 
localhost -geometry 1024x768 -depth 24 -once -SecurityTypes None 
-desktop "Debian Desktop 1024x768"

Relevant /etc/gdm/custom.conf entries:
