I have no idea. However, it seems to me that the main requirement is that

vncviewer HOST[:PORT]

works, and it does with vinagre. There is discussion under some bug
about whether

vncviewer [HOST]:PORT

should work (as it does with some clients), where HOST defaults to
localhost; I'm not sure this is so important.

Sorry, I don't know where this would be documented, but I guess the
thing to do is to ask the maintainers of other vncviewer providers.
