Bug#607578: eog: failed to open png file

I think this bug may be related to bug #588421 (at least the last
description of the behavior with the cursor idling and so on). I had this
very same problem with .png files until I saw bug #588421: [eog] Hangs when
statusbar-date plugin is enabled. Then I disabled that plugin (that I had
enabled some time ago to easily see .jpg file dates) and now the problem
seems solved.
