Actually, it is a bug in Cogl, and it comes from upstream. This crash has been fixed in the latest versions of Cogl: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits-list/2013-June/msg02756.html (unstable has Cogl 1.12 currently) I've tested with Cogl 1.16 and it works.
