As mentioned in the OSM Trac issue [0], this feature request should
probably forwarded to the GitHub issue tracker [1] for the new
Merkaartor development [2] happening there.

The merkaartor Debian package has recently been updated to 0.18.2
release, the first revision is available in experimental, see:
