I've fixed this upstream, thanks.  It'll be in the next snapshot.

This would have broken 'update-grub --help' and 'update-grub --version'.
After some thought, I decided that it was easier to simply undo the new
strictness in grub-mkconfig, rather than e.g. introduce a whole new
option parser to update-grub.
