After running autoconf twice (the second time getting no error
messages), I end up with

$ ./configure --disable-native --prefix=3D/tmp/gjdoc-cvs
=2E/configure: line 1246: syntax error near unexpected token `tar-ustar'
=2E/configure: line 1246: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE(tar-ustar)'

Automake spews a lot of error messages and seems not helpful.

I do have all packages that the gjdoc Debian package requires to build
(except the Debian-specific cdbs) installed.

I'm sorry, but I don't have time and energy to further try sort this
build problem out on my own.
