I've just run into the same bug here, on Kubuntu 5.10, with KDE version upgraded some months ago to 3.5.2. KMail today morning lost ~200 mails from my personal disconnected IMAP folder, the server on the other end is a Cyrus IMAPD 2.2.12 running on Debian Sarge. However, I discovered that the messages _DO_ exist in the filesystem, currently I'm backing up my ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail folder and will try to rebuild the message index.

Switching back to Thunderbird for my IMAP needs, though...
