i just talked with ogra on IRC, and it sounds like making this an error
will actually *break* the install on any machine without a free ethernet
interface.

with that in mind, it seems best to revert that change for now, and
explore better options in the long term.

i would like to overhaul the actual .udeb code anyways, but that's
another story...
