I never said I didn't care about this package. I'm packaging this because it's 
a dependency for xbmc, and one of xbmc's upstream devs is also upstream dev 
for crystalhd. It's really only him that I know personally who can test this 
package properly, and I don't have reason not to believe crystalhd is 
thouroughly tested.

I'm essentially packaging crystalhd for him. Not all devs know how to package 
software for Debian, and even fewer know how to do it right.

And about my last email, it's just a suggestion anyway. I'm not sure what's 
best either, whether to team maintain it, even though it's possible nobody in 
the team has the necessary hardware to test this package. Like I said, I only 
have the word of one of my fellow devs for xbmc to go with (whether crystalhd 
is properly tested or not).
