Making deb-package of vlc

Hello. I wanted to ask you for an advice. I have Debian 7 installed. I
downloaded sources of vlc 2.1.2 from official site. Then I compiled
sources, and then executed dh_make. I have a question: how do I have edit
conrol file, changelog file and other files(and maybe to do something else)
to make a deb-package of vlc in a right way and without possible errors?
