Package: src:libdiscid
Version: 0.3.2
Severity: wishlist

Libdiscid 0.4.0 is available.

Announcement:
http://lists.musicbrainz.org/pipermail/musicbrainz-devel/2013-March/005178.html
Official page:
http://musicbrainz.org/doc/libdiscid

Changes include:

  - features and version API: what is actually supported on the current platform
  - Cmake build available for all platforms
  - Generic platform support (Hurd patch not necessary anymore)
  - libtool change from -version-info to -version-number
  - fixed lots of compiler warnings

The libtool change doesn't make a difference on any Debian platform,
according to tests,
but packagers should check the so library version anyways.

Cmake is recommended, but Autotools build is not deprecated.

The (backwards compatible) API change is intended as a fixup for the 0.3 API.
It is recommended to upgrade from 0.3.x to 0.4.0.

The announcement mentions problems with BSD versioning.
Debian GNU/kfreebsd is no BSD in that sense.
