If I recall correctly (but please check) there were quite a lot of files 
that are needed by both. I decided at the time to ship them in the gtk2 
variant and make qt5 depend on gtk2 (which is older and already had 
them) instead of the other way around or adding yet another package to 
the zoo of lazarus packages.
