I test inside clean chroot environment but unreproducible 

  # cowbuilder --login 
  # aptitude install jekyll -R 
  ...
  # jekyll --version
  Notice: for 10x faster LSI support, please install http://rb-gsl.rubyforge.org/
  jekyll 2.2.0

If you can, please show your config.yml
