Sorry, I don't think this is a relevant enough use case that we should make
it a standard option in the samba package.

You do have the option of configuring samba to use RUN_MODE="inetd", and
then commenting out the entry in /etc/inetd.conf; or editing
/etc/init.d/samba, since changes to that file will be preserved on upgrade.
