[Pkg-sql-ledger-discussion] packaging ledgersmb

Hello list,

Since the list is so quiet, I thought I'd introduce myself before I start 
bugging you with questions. :-)

I am attempting to package the latest release of ledgersmb (1.3.0_rc3). I am 
starting with the latest diff produced by the ledgersmb team, i.e. for 
1.2.21. I am no expert but I'm somewhat familiar with the packaging process. 
I've used Perl, mostly for one shot, ad hoc scripts; the last time I used it 
was 7 or 8 years ago. I've since moved to Python. I used to be pretty good 
with Pascal/Delphi but that was so long ago I think it dates me.

So, I'll start asking questions as soon as they come up.

Speaking of which, why aren't we using perl Makefile.PL ? It's a Perl 
program, and the command is used for the generic install?
