Package: hal
Version: 0.5.11-3

The wireless device seems to have started working with 2.6.27-rc7 that
I installed from the Debian Kernel Teams snapshot apt source. It's a
Intel 5300AGN.

$ iwconfig wlan0 essid any
$ iwconfig wlan0
wlan0     IEEE 802.11abgn  ESSID:"Perspektiv"
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.437 GHz  Access Point: 00:E0:63:50:94:4A
          Bit Rate=11 Mb/s   Tx-Power=15 dBm
          Retry min limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr=2352 B
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality=95/100 Signal level:-89 dBm Noise level=-127 dBm
          Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

So the card seems to be working.. however it's not properly detected
as a wireless device by Network Manager, which led me to #hal at
irc.freenode.net where sjoerd told me to file this bug report.
