I do want to support file-rc and insserv users, but not to the expense
of sysv-rc users, which is our default init system.

Right, but there are no such methods which are policy compliant, i.e.
preserve local modifications.
I would love to implement support for alternative init systems, but only
if it can be done properly.

Other high profile DDs, like vorlon, HE or mpitt convinced me, that it
is *not* ok, to use this remove/insert approach.
