Thanks for the link. Kernel polling can also be enabled with this in 
/etc/rc.local:

echo 2000 > /sys/module/block/parameters/events_dfl_poll_msecs

So, you still have udisks. The problem is that udisks2 has replaced it (udisks 
can be removed now) and automount doesn't work.
