Sure, I'm very well aware of the new upstream release and you probably
noticed that Debian already ships the last RC. The final 1.2.0 will
follow shortly.

Bad news though regarding those privacy enhancing features: they require
newer versions of wpasupplicant, like e.g.


* add support for MAC address randomization in scans with nl80211

from version 2.4. The wpasupplicant version in Debian is unforunately
too old and the reasons for not updating [1] seem odd. I have no idea
why Stefan thinks this is somehow blocked by systemd(-networkd).
