Hi,

how to reproduce:

* open vim :)
* input a line longer than the terminal width (so that a linebreak occurs)
* go back to the last character at the first line
* input an umlaut, sz, or similar
* some garbled characters appear on the second line

Unfortunately, I currently don't have the time to work on this.

I'm living in a UTF-8 locale (en_GB.UTF-8) and on ":set encoding", vim says:
"encoding=utf-8".

Thanks for considering.

bye,
  Roland

The latter one.

But the problem seems to be gone. Closing. :)

Thanks!
