I dug up the file and tried it.   With my current locale (POSIX),
it works OK.   Specifically, it can't display all the characters,
byt the missing ones are neatly represented by single boxes.

When I sent the bug report, with whatever locale I had then,
one of the non-ascii characters would cause major confusion.

So, No more problem.
