This is a known bug, caused by a change of behavior in gtk3.  There's
ongoing discussion about whether it should be fixed in gtk or Vim.

Reassigning to the Gtk bug (which was already marked as affecting
vim-gtk3, so it should have shown up when you searched for bugs).
