Looks like a wrong tool chain: http://marc.info/?l=xen- 
users&m=118006289926676&w=2. I asked him for some more details on his  
build environment.

It's not the kernel team alone that "dislikes" blktap, take a look at  
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-xen/trunk/xen-3.0/debian/patches/ 
blktap-disable.dpatch?op=file&rev=0&sc=0. Or am I too green thinking  
that the Kernel and Xen packing teams talked about dropping blktap? ;-)
