Thanks for looking into this. I have had a look at the README.debian 
that comes with the package, and indeed it states that adding 
(network-script network-bridge) may or may not work.

However the instructions for setting up Xen on Squeeze at 
http://wiki.debian.org/Xen#Installation_on_squeeze tells users to 
uncomment the network-bridge line in xend-config.sxp and to build your 
own bridge if it does not work.

Should the wiki page be updated to tell users not to use the xen scripts 
and instead build their own bridges?

If so I'll email the maintainer of the wiki page.
