+Usually, upstream projects come with a waf script already available in the
+tarballs, and using such script is known to work in almost every case. This
+is also the suggested way by upstream developers, as seen in the Waf book:
+http://freehackers.org/~tnagy/wafbook/single.html.

+On the other hand, having convenience copies of the same software in several
+packages of the archive could lead to multiple uploads in case of security
+issues or major bugs, and it is hence discouraged by Debian Policy §4.13.
+
+waf Debian package is meant to provide users and developers latest release
+of waf for their needs, and a way for Debian package maintainers to comply
+with Debian Policy §4.13.
+
+We are aware newer versions could be incompatible with existing codebase,
+if that happens, convenience copy of waf can be used if adjusting code for
+the newer waf release is too problematic.
