Dear all,

A little late, but I am pleased to announce that a new release of Image Scan!
for Linux has been made available on my employer's website. The release
announcement is at:

   http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/news/id000833.php

Here is the relevant bit of the NEWS file for iscan 2.25.0:

  * adds support for device information files.
Device information files are distributed in a separate package,
iscan-data. This package is necessary to enable support for
additional devices. See iscan-data's NEWS file for information on
    additionally supported devices.

and from iscan-data 1.0.0:

  * initial release adding support for the following devices:
    - Epson ME 330 Series
    - Epson ME 320 Series
    - Epson ME OFFICE 520 Series
    - Epson ME OFFICE 560W Series
    - Epson Perfection V33 (requires esci-interpreter-perfection-v330)
    - Epson Perfection V330 Photo (requires esci-interpreter-perfection-v330)
    - Epson Stylus NX125
    - Epson Stylus NX127
    - Epson Stylus NX420 Series
    - Epson Stylus Office BX305F
    - Epson Stylus Office BX320FW Series
    - Epson Stylus SX125
    - Epson Stylus SX218
    - Epson Stylus SX420W Series
    - Epson Stylus TX120 Series
    - Epson Stylus TX220 Series
    - Epson Stylus TX420W Series
    - WorkForce 520 Series

The biggest news in this release is the addition of the iscan-data package. On
top of providing some of the legacy scanner data that was previously included in
the iscan package, iscan-data also provides a set of device specific XML files
that define various properties for new scanners, moving what used to be hard
coded data into easily editable text files. This will allow for easier
maintenance and, to a limited extent, user customizability.

We are hoping that these changes will enable us to deliver driver updates to our
users in a more efficient and timely manner.

Happy scanning,
