Thank you for the detail, Jörn-Ingo. As it happens, the user evenually
used lexmark_network-sc~4082019_x86_64.deb from Lexmark support. The
library files are in /usr/local/lexmark/unix_scan_drivers/lib/sane but
the Debian package's postinst makes links to multiarch library paths.
Perhaps Lexmark took notice of what Olaf said. :)

The user is now scanning (on USB at least).
