in my experience RFC 1925 item 6a is the final root cause behind
about 90% of all bugs and RFC 1925 item 5 is also a final root cause
behind about 90% of all bugs so about 81% of all bugs have both together
as final root cause (I really mean that seriously - to some extent)
i.e. indirection plus complexity is the "highway to hell" ;-)

I think whatever will be done the outcome would be OK as long as you
keep Open Printing (in particular Till Kamppeter) involved, cf.
