Good point. I am also one of the package maintainers/uploaders, in addition
to being upstream developer. We keep the various distro packaging scripts
in our own repo and sync them to Debian as needed.

I prefer having the same package names across all distros, barring wider
policies (e.g. -dev vs -devel). Adding a v5 for just one platform would
complicate our scripts and setup instructions.
