[APPLYING PATCH REQUEST] Generate ALL External slots

Hi,

I worked on generating all external slots by default, and these are the
patches I come with.

Can you review them and tell me if I can apply them on the stable branch?

Note: the first and lat patches are empty, they are just markers to be
able to tell what are the commits in between for in the git history.
