Arduino + iPhone + minicom on iPhone, minicom not displaying message

I fear most cannot be very helpful for running something on the iPhone.
However, have you checked that your setup works with something else than
the phone? For example with an USB dongle on the Mac? Is the voltage 
compatible for both?
