Thanks Thomas. While I don't expect to see any radical changes in our GR
results, my intent is to have alternates available in Debian. At one
point in time, in the past, Free Software was more about choice. That
view is slimming day-by-day.

And to top that up is fellow developers making a mock.

Anyways, I checked on openrc channel, and this is what I got...

merged, and is for a feature that is not supported

If that is the status, and given our time and commitment, I'd suggest we
drop the patch, for now. It should fix one of the RC bugs, immediately.
