AFAIK firepro support was dropped in fglrx a year ago and they wrote the
firepro driver to support these GPUs

It would be (for me) too much work to also maintain currently the
firepro driver and IMHO will AMD switch to the firepro or fglrx driver
for all their GPUs.

It is a quite different version, which is not compareable with fglrx.
