I fully agree. Transitioning should be done package per package, when
the person who is the most active maintaining the said package in the
team is ready for that.

I personnally feel like we would benefit from git transition for :
- the most active and complicated packages (so, fontforge is a good
candidate)
- less active packages where upstream is using git for development
(probably a few font packages are in such case)

If would be useless for low-activity font packages where the current
ultra-simple SVN layout is really enough.

I am fine with transitioning fontforge to git. I already maintain a
few packages (in the pkg-running team) where git is used and one of
them is indeed even using upstream's git. I'm not yet completely
comfortable with all this and I sometimes do mistakes, but nothing
that can't be reverted..:-)


So, that means a GO from my side. The only argument stopping this
would be Kestutis (who maintained FF for quite a while and did a good
job at maintaining the package alive) popping out and yelling that
he's not comfortable at all with this transition.
