Bug#268222: gdesklets does not start properly

I have just installed gdesklets (+ gdesklets-data) for the first time.
When starting it from the GNOME menu, nothing happened. So I tried
again from a shell. This is all I get:

Nothing happens. A "find . -name *gdesk*" gives me:

./.gconf/apps/gdesklets with the file ./.gconf/apps/gdesklets/%gconf.xml

Consequence: I cannot use gdesklets at all. What is wrong?
