Also running the Debian version, I often get the same dialog "... do you want to delete them locally". One way to reproduce this is dragging a mail from one imap folder to another. kmail will show the moved mail just fine, but as soon as the destination folder is checked again (e.g. via F5), you get that irritating dialog.
