Package: caja
Version: 1.8.2-3+deb8u1
Followup-For: Bug #797723

First, thank you for replying, Jean-Philippe. I picked up your intention of
giving the maintainers more details.

Here's my reproduction of the bug on my laptop including details:

1. I start caja and I know beforehand that the "show hidden files" box is
checked.

Here's the process:
$ pstree -p | grep caja
           |              |-lightdm(741)-+-mate-
session(749)-+-caja(793)-+-{dconf worker}(826)

2. Now I open the Edit->Options menu and uncheck "Show hidden files"
Caja crashes but is obviously still running with another pid:

$ pstree -p | grep caja
           |              |-lightdm(741)-+-mate-
session(749)-+-caja(1054)-+-{dconf worker}(1055)

3. Look at the xsession-errors log (/home/xyz/.xsession-errors). It says:

(caja:793): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_hash_table_foreach: assertion 'version ==
hash_table->version' failed

(caja:793): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_hash_table_foreach: assertion 'version ==

**
ERROR:caja-window-menus.c:415:show_hidden_files_preference_callback: assertion
failed: (GTK_IS_ACTION (action))

4. I re-open caja. "Show hidden files" is unchecked in the Options menu.

$ pstree -p | grep caja
           |              |-lightdm(741)-+-mate-
session(749)-+-caja(1054)-+-{dconf worker}(1055)

Can you confirm this behaviour in testing?
