I did a few changes, and have the following remarks which I leave for 
you:

You state copyright in debian/rules but no licensing (in that file). 
Then in debian/control you document the copyright and declare licensing 
as "MIT/X11 (BSD like)" (as copyright-check auto-resolved for main 
code). I corrected the licensing for main code to be Expat - but would 
prefer that you declare your copyright yourself, and that you declare it 
in the rules file (writing out the full licensing there, not just a 
reference) to consistently use debian/rules only to _reference_ 
copyright and licensing info, not declaring some of it.

You provide a hand-written manpage.  Good!  But even better if it was 
possible to instead auto-generate it based on compiled binary using e.g. 
help2man, as that is less likely to go stale.
