[Pkg-nagios-devel] Bug#628014: Unexpected startup on squeeze of the nsca daemon

Package: nsca
Version: 2.7.2+nmu2
Severity: normal

Hello,

We have nsca installed on alot of servers for reporting back to the central
nagios server using send_nsca. These boxes didn't run the nsca daemon on lenny
probably due to the command 'nagios(2|3)' missing.

After upgrading and moving to dependency based booting the daemon will start,
as the top of the RC script tells insserv to just go ahead and start up in all
default runlevels.

In my opinion this extra behaviour after an upgrade is incorrect and should
be fixed, but looking at the postinstall script the solution isn't all that
trivial to implement (to me).

If this should be fixed, I'd love to help you out on the matter, but I'd like some pointers on how to fix it in a desired fashion.
Could anyone help me in the right direction?

Regards,
Kai
