Unfortunately. Among other things they added a phrase that you cannot
redistribute modified copies. I asked on debian-legal and that
basically means it's not redistributable (I had to modify some
makefiles etc., also the binary package is a derivative work, strictly
speaking).

Basically I only mentioned my problems and they offered help and asked
me to send them patch that I had to apply to slepc2.3.2 in order to
compile it with petsc2.3.3 (+other changes I had to make in order to
comply with Debian policy, like propr .a and .so files etc.), but I
didn't find time to do it yet.

If any of you could look into that, it'd be appreciated. Simply go to
the slepc svn dir at pkg-scicomp, which contains the latest version of
my packaging, make it compile against petsc2.3.3 and test examples. It
won't work. Then send all the details upstream and they'll look into
that.
