Not unless the API or ABI has changed. It was fine back then, so we'll
keep it until we need to update.

Yes, please. I have had a number of standards-updates on my TODO, but
raving through the
/usr/share/doc/debian-policy/upgrading-checklist.txt.gz just takes time.
So if you can check what needs to be updated, please commit the required changes.

Btw. what about pushing upstream the hardcoded HOSTCC being removed? Or
