Thanks for your help. With zope-btreefolder2 as a template it
was quite easy to create the package which intalls everything
in /usr/share/zope/Products/zms. I guess that's how it is supposed
to be. Installing works fine but ZMS doesn't show up in the list
of products on http://localhost:9673/manage. The old package spread
files over /var/lib/zope2.x and /usr/lib/zope2.x.
I suppose most of the magic to make it visible in zope is hidden
in dzhandle called by postinst. Is there any documentation about
the concept behind zope-debhelper, possible some technical insight
in what is actually going on when a zope product is installed?
