[Popcon-developers] gnugp dependency of apt

Dear APT developers,

I like to check whether you plan to keep the dependency of apt on gnupg.

Some background: I plan to add support for encrypted report in popularity-contest.
Since apt depends on gnupg, it is safe to assume that gnupg is available on almost
all Debian systems, so popularity-contest using gnupg will not require users to
install extra packages and will not disrupt the statistics.

So if you plan to remove this dependency (and e.g. use gpg2 or gpgv instead), please
let me know so.
