I mailed a similar question yesterday regarding the Minolta Scan Dual II.

Both scanners use an avision chipset (the same?). The mails that I received 
regarding this (only two...) agree in concentrating our efforts on the 
avision backend. This would provide support for (at least) both our scanners.
