I completely agree with Rene... Not that I wanna start a thread here but

- I have got HP 3300C, Crystal soundcard ( both unsupported by "linux"
as such ) successfully work in most of distro's
- I do have wife and I don’t wear glasses and I am certainly no rocket
scientist.

What unqualified statemant is this? Normally I do not reply to such a
garbage - because it is 99% wasted time ...

That some backend are under construction (like my Avision one is) is
simply due to the missing support from the manufactures! I try to get
info from HP since the last CeBIT in 2001 (this is one year now!).

Since Oliver proudly sponsored a scanner for me I adapted the backend in
a few days!

The Avision SCSI part works flawlessly since 1999 ... ;-)

You miss a girlfriend ;-)?

Are you on drugs (constantly)? Scanning from gimp only requires two tiny
symlink - or a clever package maintainer from your disto ...

But most people do not want to buy a seconds scanner and pollute the
nature by throwing it into the trash ...

Fine for you. You only consume our work. Nice for you. Maybe you could
be more respectfully about the work do - sometimes without NO support
fomr the scanner manufacture. Guessing what bits the scanner might like
to get and which bits not.

By the way: What is BTW and what about replying with the original
subject? Should I count the typos in your post?
